A native of Virginia, Wendy attended college in West Virginia and graduate school at Duke University. She moved to Charlotte in 1990 for an educational program and never left. In the process of changing careers, she discovered her love of landscaping and decided to pursue it. Under the guidance of a local landscape designer, she worked and learned from the ground up how to design and install landscapes, including stone walls, patios, and pathways.
She started out using her 1988 Toyota Corolla to haul plants, bags of soil and mulch She gradually moved up to a pickup truck, continued to work and learn and improve. In 2000, she went through Master Gardener training in Cabarrus County and two years later became a North Carolina Certified Plant Professional. She single-handedly built exhibits in the Southern Spring Show for 4 years running. She maintains a small operation that emphasizes quality and personal service. She is married and lives on a small farm in Midland, NC with 3 dogs and 2 parrots. She also is trained in massage therapy and enjoys reading, music and traveling.
